I'm giving away a little plugin that can enhance your vocal's stereo spread. It's a simple plug, but it can be very useful if you have a busy mix with a lot of bass and low-end rumble, or if you want your vocals to stand out off the bat, or if you want to lighten and brighten a dull or dark vocals. It's great for group vocals, choir, back-up vocals, and lead vocals. Screenshot
It spreads out the signal across the stereo track, which can help the vocals stir clear of the muddy areas (like bass and kick in the middle) while keeping the vocals bright and centered. I've added a 'body' control which works the same way as in HUE-X in case you want the sound to be more upfront, since spreading may cause it to sound lighter (e.g. for the main vocals).
This plugin is not limited to vocals, although it was designed for vocals. It could sound nice with acoustic instruments, just try it out.
Test Samples I took this clip from one of my projects. This is an unmixed, unedited clip. The first file is the raw sound clip. For the second file, only the Vocal Spread plugin was applied.
I made this plugin for my own personal use. Lately I've been dealing with a lot of projects that center around the vocals, and I thought I'd just make a plugin that will take care of some basic stuff that I do on almost all the vocal parts like pre-EQ and spread.
So there. Enjoy! It's Free!
INSTRUCTIONS: You can use any mono or stereo signal as long as you put it on a STEREO track. It's okay if your vocals was recorded in mono, you can simply drag it onto a stereo track on your DAW software. If you need help, feel free to contact me vst-plugins@mildonstudios.com. Today we officially launch Kisstunes 3! Kisstunes is a fun and easy-to-use web application that allows you to record tunes online in real-time and save them as MIDI files. Kisstunes turns your typing keyboard into a 2-octave musical keyboard. The recorded tune can be downloaded as a MIDI file, which can be played offline using a standard media player (like WMP or Quicktime) or used as a ringtone on your mobile phone. Advanced users can further edit the MIDI file using digital audio workstation software (like Reaper or Cubase). You can also embed the Kisstunes player in a web page (like you do with Youtube videos), which shows the keys being pressed on a small keyboard while playing your tune.
Registration is free and is required to be able to save your recording. Check out a sample tune below. Click here to record a tune now.
Last day to get LS3 + HUE-X for only $14.95. That's a total savings of $38! If you already have LS3 and would want to buy only HUE-X, it's still a good idea to grab the deal because the regular price of HUE-X is $35.
A new e-commerce system is now in place, so purchasing plugins from mildonstudios.com is now faster and easier. Buyers will no longer be redirected to e-junkie, the third-party P&D processor I previously used. One advantage of the new system is that expired links can now be easily renewed by going to the "MY" section of the site.
And because I've made a career move to leave my alter-ego for a while, you can expect to see a lot of new projects in here. It also means that I'm back to answering my mailbag. Tech support, anyone? I've queued up many plans to expand the site, and I'm really excited to share new stuff. New theme, new store, more plugins, and more freebies!
It's summer in the east and man, is it boiling hot. So I'm letting some steam out by cutting prices. Nothing like some good-sounding chilly music this el nino season.
From March 20 to April 1, 2010 you can get any item from my VST gallery for only $8. You can find a lot of free stuff too!
